The Newborn and Early Childhood Development team within the Faculty of Epidemiology and Population Health, linked to the MARCH Centre at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor to work on the Newborn Essential Systems Technologies (NEST) Consortium. As part of a wider team, LSHTM will lead exciting implementation research across four African countries to evaluate a health systems package with innovative devices to improve hospital care for small and sick newborns, from 2019-2022
Based in Malawi, the post holder will be responsible for the overall management of NEST360 health systems research activities, including quality assurance for data collection collaborating with the country team members and other partners. Furthermore, they will take a leading role in a Theory of Change, process data collection and analysis, coordinating scientific papers, technical tools, reports and in dissemination of findings, therefore strong systems analytical skills and communication skills are essential.
The post-holder will require a doctoral degree in a relevant field, particular expertise in health systems using mixed methods as well as knowledge of, newborn or maternal/child health in LMIC. Furthermore, experience in routine data systems for MNCH and familiarity with quantitative data, and economic analyses would be ideal. Further particulars are included in the job description.
The post is full time and fixed-term commencing immediately until 31 December 2022. The salary will be on the Academic Pathway, grade 7 in the range £46,704 to £53,465 per annum, (with an overseas package). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available.
