Clinical Research Fellow (ITD-CRD-22)

Category: Academic | Department: Faculty of Infectious & Tropical Diseases | Closing Date: 20 Feb 2017 | We are seeking to appoint a Clinical Research Fellow at 0.8 FTE who will be based in Kampala, Uganda.
The successful applicant will have core responsibilities within a health systems research trial on tuberculosis in Uganda and will be expected to be resident in Uganda for this post. The post holder will take primary responsibility for implementation, management and day to day oversight of study activities and ensuring timeline targets for recruitment and data collection are met. You will have close liaison with the national TB control programme to ensure key partners are kept abreast of study progress.
The post holder will be fully qualified as a medical doctor, with experience in infectious diseases, hold a degree in Medicine, have experience of work in East Africa and excellent oral and written communication skills. The successful applicant will have previous postgraduate teaching experience in Africa and evidence of effective team working skills with colleagues from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds and cultures.
This post is fixed term until 31 December 2019 and part-time 28 hours per week, 0.8 FTE. The post is funded by the National Institutes of Health (USA) and is available immediately. The salary will be on the Clinical Lecturer Salary scale at £33,597 pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available.
