Global Panel Senior Communications Manager (LIDC-09)

Category: Professional Support | Department: London International Development Centre | Closing Date: 20 Feb 2017 | The Global Panel on Agriculture and Food Systems for Nutrition is seeking a Senior Communications Manager to be part of a Secretariat team supporting the Global Panel, which comprises a small group of influential, independent experts who have a commitment to tackling global challenges in food and nutrition security. The Panel is co-chaired by Prof Sir John Beddington, former UK Chief Scientific Adviser, and H.E. John Kufuor, former President of Ghana. It is hosted by the London International Development Centre (LIDC).
The Senior Communications Manager will be responsible for disseminating the messages of the Global Panel to a broad audience that includes international policy-makers, the Global Panel, the general public and technical professionals, as well as line managing the Communications Assistant. He or she will have experience communicating with policy makers at the highest international level, as well as guiding a small team in their complimentary communications activities.
This post will require excellent communication and organisational skills, as it will involve working with a diverse group of senior stakeholders in a highly international environment.
This role will be line managed by the Global Panel Deputy Director.
The post is full-time and fixed term until 31 March 2018, candidates must be available for an immediate start. The salary will be on the Professional Support Pathway Grade 7 scale in the range £44,226 to £50,629 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff.
