The College of Social Science is seeking a new Director of Education and Students to oversee the strategic development of the student experience within the College at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The College plays a dynamic role in the life of the wider University, with a commitment to providing outstanding education, and supporting our students into graduate success.
As a member of the College Leadership Team, and reporting to the Pro Vice Chancellor, you will play a key role in defining, implementing and monitoring our Education Strategy. You will also work closely with the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Development and Engagement) to embed and operationalise institutional priorities at the College level.
You will be an experienced academic in a relevant discipline, with a driving commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, the vision and experience to develop an innovative strategy in all aspects of student education, and the skills to influence, motivate and inspire academic staff to fulfil that vision. Your background will include academic management, substantial experience as an outstanding teacher, innovation in teaching and learning, and leadership of others.
This post provides an opportunity for a senior academic with a strong track record in teaching and learning to develop a managerial career. A Chair is available to candidates with an appropriate track record in pedagogical or subject area research.
The Director will also be associated with of one of the College’s Schools (Education, Health & Social Care, Law, Psychology, Social and Political Sciences, and Sport and Exercise Science) dedicating up to 20% of their time to academic duties in the school.
