Research Assistant

Job Description

As part of a research project on interoperable technologies and standards development for virtual worlds and the Metaverse, Medialab requires desk-based research on development practices by key technology vendors. You will be required to conduct technology Horizon Scans, investigate marketing communications, and developer roadmaps to determine strategic direction of a company involved in Metaverse development. 

You will be required to complete a report on your findings, full guidance on the format of this report will be provided. 

The rate of pay for this role is ?17.51 per hour, it is envisaged that this role will take between 30-45 hours to complete. 

Undertake supervised research in accordance with programme goals as a research team and project member

Investigate key subject areas using the Government Office for Science Futures Toolkit ? Horizon Scan methodology

Collaborate on original research and provide recommendation to other staff and on own specialist areas of expertise

Participate in internal networks for the exchange of information and to quickly form working relationships.



Qualifications

Degree or equivalent in Computer Science or relevant area.

Have or be about to obtain a postgraduate qualification involving an element of research training.

Experience in conducting literature reviews, quantitative and qualitative data collection and demonstrate high level of analytical capability.

Ability to assess, organise, analyse resources, and communicate effectively, in written form, digital presentations and oral presentations. 

Independent time management skills, attention to detail and ability to contribute to group activities.

Evidence of being able to work flexibly and to meet deadlines. 

Willingness to work as part of a team.

Student Services and Systems 

Student Registry team are looking for student helpers, available to work 20 hours minimum, to assist with Winter Graduation 2024. 

Have you got good communication skills? Are you conscientious and able to work well in a team? Then there may be an opportunity for you to perform a very important role in supporting the University?s Winter Graduation 2024. 

These posts are expected to be available from Monday 2 December to Friday 13 December.

Various duties to include - assisting in preparation of graduation brochures/parchments, preparation of the graduation hall, assisting guests and graduands on the day, and other tasks as identified by Student Registry Leads. Working hours will be from 8am - 4pm, unless otherwise specified, during the graduation period. 

It is a requirement of this post that applicants are currently registered and attending a course at Queen's University Belfast for the academic year 2024/25 and for the full period this post is available, otherwise the application will not be considered. 

Applicants must be available for a minimum of 20 hours during each week of the post. Please only submit an application if you are available to commit to this minimum.

Queen's Sport and Queen's GAA wish to appoint a part time GAA Administrative assistant for Queen?s University Belfast. The post holder will assist Queen's GAA to administer, co-ordinate and support the delivery of Club and Student Development, Events, Participation and Performance programmes, projects and initiatives.

These duties provide a framework for the role and should not be regarded as a definitive list. Other reasonable duties may be required consistent with the grade of the post.

This role will be based on up to 10 hours a week from September 2024 to March 2025 (this is a temporary role with the possibility of extension & additional hours). The role will mainly be based between Queen's Sport PEC & Queen's Sport Upper Malone however, some travel may be required.
