Job Description

The Widening Participation Unit at Queen's University Belfast is funding an internship for a Care Experienced Young Person as a Research and Communications Assistant, which will be based in the Administrative Data Research Centre Northern Ireland (ADRC NI). The position is a temporary part-time post with expected 8 hours per week for a period of 6-8 weeks (flexible.) 



The successful candidate will use their experience of work with the ADRC NI team to aid the development of communication materials for research relating to children known to social services. Applicants should have prior experience of working with Queen's Researchers at ADRC NI as 'experts by experience' in either the co-production of research or attendance at related events at Queen's University Belfast.  





  • Applicants should be a young person who is from a care experienced background (i.e. experience of residential, foster or kinship care). 




  • Prior experience of working with Queen’s Researchers in ADRC NI as “experts by experience” in either the co-production of research or attendance at dissemination events at Queen’s University in the last 3 years. 




  • Willingness to work as part of a team. 




  • Willingness to follow QUB policies, including health & safety, equality & diversity & confidentiality. 




  • Willingness to participate in feedback about the internship opportunity, including follow-up evaluation after 12 months. 




  • Demonstrate a commitment to compulsory Education (up to 16 years) having completed GSCE (or equivalent) examinations.

Nursing and Midwifery are engaging in projects to reduce waste associated with single use items utilised within clinical skills labs during teaching practice. To achieve long term benefits, the project will map the waste stream and identify materials that can be reclaimed, redesigned and further recycled into teaching aids and additional resources. ? Excellent communication and reporting skills

? Knowledge of waste materials recyclability an advantage

Research Assistant - SUPPORTive Leaders Online & ESRC Workplace Well-being Project

We are seeking a part-time Research Assistant to support the SUPPORTive Leaders Online project?an initiative focused on developing a digital leadership training programme to promote mental health and well-being in the workplace.

This project builds on our GBP1.6 million ESRC-funded research, conducted in collaboration with the Enterprise Research Centre, Warwick Business School, University College Cork, and the University of Nottingham, exploring the relationship between workplace well-being and productivity. The Research Assistant?s time will be divided between this new initiative and supporting the broader ESRC-funded research, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge work on workplace mental health and productivity.

This role is ideal for candidates looking to gain hands-on research experience in work psychology, human resource management, and organisational behaviour. The position focuses on translating academic research into practical applications for business leaders and organisations.

 

Key Responsibilities

The Research Assistant will work closely with the project team to support the development and implementation of the digital training programme. Key responsibilities include:

  • Engaging with advisory groups, including business leaders and mental health professionals.
  • Assisting in content development for the digital platform (e.g., Xerte).
  • Uploading and managing training materials within the digital system.
  • Coordinating pilot activities, including participant recruitment and scheduling.
  • Collecting and analysing feedback through surveys and interviews.
  • Contributing to research dissemination, including reports and publications.


Qualifications
  • Essential: An undergraduate degree in psychology, business management, organisational behaviour, human resource management, public health, or a related field.
  • Preferred: A Master's degree (completed or in progress) in a relevant discipline.


Skills
