Job Description

The Students’ Union requires a SU Advice Intern: Administration and Marketing, to support SU Advice in delivering an effective advice and guidance service for students on matters including academic issues, money matters, housing problems, student conduct and complaints.



You will have excellent administrative, organisational, and communication skills in order to assist with the delivery of the SU Advice service, including the coordination of drop-in advice sessions. You will have a passion for creating engaging social media content to promote SU Advice and an understanding of matters of current relevance to students. You will also have a keen interest in financial capability and an understanding of student money issues in order to coordinate the delivery and marketing of Blackbullion, the online financial well-being platform.



You will be an enthusiastic individual and able to work confidently with students, elected Student Officers, Students’ Union & University staff, and external organisations. You will be required to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and have respect for the sometimes sensitive and challenging nature of this role. You will also have the ability to manage and prioritise your workload independently as well as work effectively within a team.




Qualifications

All students for whom English is not their first language must have achieved a minimum pass mark of 7.0 in the writing and speaking band of IELTS (International English Language Test Score) or equivalent (evidence to be supplied along with your completed application and equal opportunities forms).



Skills

Experience of working in a customer service environment.



Experience in planning and organising events, at any scale.



A working knowledge of social media platforms, and Microsoft Office & Teams.



Creative, with an ability to generate innovative and engaging content for social media and website



Ability to effectively and confidently interact with service users to establish the nature of the advice being sought



An ability to work both independently and in a team environment.



Excellent time management skills, with a flexible attitude and the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and work under pressure whilst delivering high quality work. 



Excellent communication skills to deliver excellent customer service in person, by email and telephone.

As part of a research project on interoperable technologies and standards development for virtual worlds and the Metaverse, Medialab requires desk-based research on development practices by key technology vendors. Dr Shirley-Ann Hazlett, Associate Dean for Global Reputation and Partnerships (AHSS), and academic in Queen?s Business School, is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of part-time, Research Assistant in Business Ethics and Sustainability,

This position is an ideal opportunity for an outstanding candidate to work on a range of projects relating to ethics and sustainability in, for example, small businesses as well as arts and third sector organisations, sustainability initiatives in hard-to-recycle products, and understanding people related aspects in embedding ethics and sustainability in organisations. Qualifications

Enrollment in a PhD Business Management or closely related programme.

 



Skills

Knowledge of and extensive experience in using appropriate online databases (including, but not limited to, ABI Inform, Business Source Premier) to access high quality academic journal articles in the broad areas of business ethics and sustainability. 

Construction of bibliographies related to online searching.

Experience in data input into Excel, SPSS or other related statistical package 

Knowledge of business ethics (and related) theories and practices.

Excellent written communication skills are desirable.

QBS Connect is ?for students by students? and we are now recruiting a team of three talented students to join the team for 2024/25.  As a QBS Connect Skills Assistant you will work up to 10 hours per week throughout term time. The role will have a breadth of responsibility as outlined below. 

Responsible for:

Skills Workshop Delivery

  • Delivering and co-delivering skills sessions.
  • Ideation and developing content for activities, events and programs aligned to student demand.

Marketing and Communications

  • Designing and creating marketing content.
  • Creating and delivering student event campaigns through relevant platforms including social media.
  • Sourcing and managing content on QBS communication platforms including Sharepoint.

Operations Management

  • Project management & reporting. 
  • Developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders including AHSS Student Skills Assistants and other delivery partners.
  • Event Logistics including facilities primarily at QBS Student Hub.
  • Tracking student Registrations, Attendance and Event Evaluations.
