Job Description

LawPod is a podcast created by staff and students in the School of Law. It produces weekly episodes exploring a range of social and legal issues in an accessible way and aims to provide a platform for the research done at Queen?s University. Now entering its 8th year, to date it has produced over 195 episodes and has had over 100,000 unique listeners.  

LawPod is recruiting a Student Coordinator for the academic year 2024-2025 (commencing mid-September 2024, specific date to be agreed with the successful candidate). 

 

Role description 

The successful applicant?s role will be as follows: 


Supporting LawPod?s Co-Directors and Producer, with the organisation and management of LawPod.

To be a point of contact for students on the Wednesday afternoon session.

To promote the podcast via our social media accounts and build our audience across the university and beyond. 

To be a point of contact for PhD Students to promote their research. 

 

The post will require a commitment of 2 hours per week on average, up to a maximum of 48 hours during the year for which the post holder will receive a payment of ?17.51 per hour (the university?s AC1 rate).  

 

We welcome applications from current postgraduate research students. However, we unfortunately cannot accept applications from final year PhD students. Please also note that PhD students can be employed in the School for a maximum of 6 hours/week, so please take into account any other work commitments you have before applying.

?      Demonstrable knowledge or interest in digital trends in media, entertainment, and emerging technologies.  

 

Desirable Criteria

This role is for a barista in our on site coffee shop. The successful candidate will be preparing coffees and food items to serve to the public. The role will also involve cash handling and cleaning down of counter area, coffee machine and back of house areas as well as customer seating area. Working hours are typically between 8am and 4pm Monday to Friday

Job description 

Dr Marisa McVey is seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Research Assistant. The successful candidate will contribute to a project on business and human rights. This research comes in the context of growing emphasis on corporate responsibility for human rights and the development of mandatory human rights and environmental due diligence practices across the globe. The successful candidate will assist in: 1) Preparing a review of ?science and technology? literature on forms of accountability; and 2) Mapping current human rights due diligence legislative trends in different jurisdictions since 2021.

What you?ll get in return The successful candidate will receive a contract for 60 hours of research assistance at the rate of ?16.60 per hour. This will likely be completed between October ? December 2024, with 6 hours of work per week currently allocated. The successful candidate will receive written credit for their contribution to this research in any outputs that result from this role.
