We are looking for King's students or King’s alumni to work in King's residences to lead a team of Welcome Ambassadors with our Resident Managers the September student arrivals. The Senior Welcome Ambassador plays a key role in ensuring the operation leading to, and during the September arrival weekend are run smoothly and successfully. This is a great opportunity if you are interested in welcoming new students and helping them settle down into their new home. It is also a fantastic opportunity to make friends while earning some extra cash! 



Please note that you must be a current student or an alumnus who recently graduated to apply. You must have an active KCL email address. 



Job title: Residence Senior Welcome Ambassador 



Salary: £14.09 per hour 



Hours: 8 hours per shift (please state any visa restrictions to work on your application) 



Period of work: Various shifts from 1st September – 18th September Compulsory dates: 16th September – 17th September 



Location: Flexible – must be able to work in different locations as required, including:  



Great Dover Street Apartment, Stamford Street Apartment, Wolfson House, Angel Lane, Atlas, Canada Water, City – Vine Street, Hayloft Point, Julian Markham House, Moonraker Point, Orchard Lisle and Irish Brook, and Vauxhall.  



Report to: Resident Experience Assistant, Resident Experience Managers, Residence Manager, staff members on site  



Training: Orientation and briefing on your first day 



Responsibilities include but not limited to: 





  • Induct new Welcome Ambassadors to the site and their duties  




  • Supervise a team of Welcome Ambassadors to ensure tasks are completed promptly and successfully  




  • Delegate tasks to team members 




  • Hand out uniform and umbrellas and keep an account of them, organise return of such during the last shift of Welcome Ambassadors 




  • Oversee shift change and transition duties to new team on shift 







  • Welcome, meet and greet early arrival residents and parents as they arrive to the hall of residence 




  • Actively help carrying luggage and boxes for students, as well as other lifting and carrying duties for the residence’s operation as required 




  • Redirecting Welcome Ambassadors to other sites where required 




  • Work at various locations as required 




  • Carry out Welcome Ambassador duties where necessary 





During the arrival weekend (17th September – 18th September) 





  • Welcome, meet and greet new residents and parents as they arrive to the hall of residence 




  • Actively help carrying luggage and boxes for students, as well as other lifting and carrying duties for residence’s operation as required 




  • Answer queries regarding the university and residence, and direct them as appropriate 




  • Assist the Residence Managers in organising resources 







  • Lead a team of Welcome Ambassadors and work closely with the site team and Community Facilitators to run the pizza party on 16th September (such as setting up rooms/space, distributing supplies and food, cleaning up after)  




  • Assisting the Residence Team with various other duties as required 





Qualifications

Person specification:  





  • Must be a current student or a recent graduate who has an active KCL email address 




  • Friendly, eager to help new students, and with a flexible and positive attitude 




  • Excellent customer service skills 







  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills  




  • Good time management skills and is able prioritise accordingly 




  • Excellent team player with strong leadership skills 




  • Good organisation and time management skills 




  • Flexible, adaptable, and can react quickly on the spot

Queen's University Immigration Support Service (ISS) requires part-time Student Helpers to provide assistance with International Enrolment and Registration 2024.  These posts are available from an anticipated start date of week beginning 09 September 2024 to 11 October 2024. Project Overview: We are developing a web application and are seeking an experienced Backend Developer to manage API development, cloud deployment, and database management. This project operates within an Agile/Sprint framework. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Python Proficiency: Develop backend logic using Python, with a strong focus on class structures and JSON manipulation.
  • Flask API Development: Create and manage APIs using Flask, including developing POST/GET endpoints and structuring backend repositories.
