Job Description

This role is within the Data, Insights & Reporting team in the Brand & Marketing department. The team provides a highly skilled internal service resource in support of student recruitment and other marketing-related activities.   

We are seeking a technically proficient, solution-focused team player who actively seeks opportunities to automate reporting processes. You will have strong data-driven storytelling and visualization skills to facilitate a deeper understanding of the data's underlying context. An expert in their field, the chosen candidate will lead in providing essential data and insights, enabling teams to assess the performance of their marketing campaigns and strategically allocate resources. This will involve implementing user-friendly tools, conducting tailored analyses, and providing guidance and recommendations based on both internal and external data trends. This role will also drive future enhancements to our reporting tools and explore innovative ways to develop the team's reporting capabilities further.

Skills
  • Experience of working in marketing data analysis, using data manipulation and visualisation software 
  • Experience working with and manipulating large datasets in a variety of formats, including complex data models 
  • Proficiency in using Power BI is essential, including DAX, to carry out data modelling and building dashboards 
  • Familiarity with using Google Analytics and GA4, or equivalent web analytics tool  
  • Solution-focused with strong problem-solving skills 
  • Demonstrable ability to turn data into actionable insights 
  • Demonstrable ability to explain complex data to a non-technical audience and to tell the story behind the data. 
  • Excellent attention to detail 
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage working across multiple concurrent projects and work to deadlines 
  • Highly collaborative with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of audiences and stakeholders at all levels.

​Student Conduct & Appeals handles a large number of student-related academic appeals, misconduct cases, fitness to study, fitness to practise referrals and complaints per year, and is also responsible for responding to complaints to the Office of the Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education (?OIA?), as well as managing student-related litigation

​About the Role 

​The Student Conduct & Appeals Manager is responsible for the management of a case load of referrals made to the Student Conduct and Appeals ranging from academic appeals, complaints and misconduct to fitness to practise and support for study processes. They are primarily responsible for investigating and bringing to resolution cases that have been referred to Student Conduct & Appeals as well as clerking the various committees which are involved in the processes dealt with by the team.

We are seeking a research assistant with a background in social artificial intelligence to work on a Kings Together project, Minds in the Machine: Improving Mental State Inference in Artificial Intelligence, directed by Dr Caroline Catmur (Psychology) in collaboration with colleagues from Informatics.

The project seeks to carry out pilot work to develop artificial agents which can infer humans' mental states, in order to improve human-agent interaction. The work will be carried out by two research assistants, one with a background in Psychology (specifically, social cognitive science) and one with a background in Informatics (specifically, social artificial intelligence).

The Informatics research assistant will have the following key responsibilities: Liaison with the Psychology team to apply findings from human studies to design of artificial agent studies. Programming, data collection and analysis for artificial agent studies. Helping to draft pre-prints of study findings. Helping to disseminate findings including at team meetings and other events.

The role is available for up to 2 days (14 hours) per week from 3rd February to 1st August 2025, however a job-share arrangement (1 day / 7 hours per week) could also be discussed.



Qualifications

BSc in Computer Science, Informatics, Artificial Intelligence or related discipline OR equivalent research experience

Essential: A relevant qualification (BSc or MSc) or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Informatics, Artificial Intelligence or related discipline. Experience in managing research projects in machine learning / AI, including designing, formulating, and implementing AI agents, collecting research data, data analysis and dissemination of findings in written and verbal form. Practical experience of developing agent models using symbolic AI techniques. Good interpersonal and time management skills.

Desirable: Experience of carrying out research using large language models. Knowledge of the recent academic literature on artificial social cognition, in particular machine theory of mind.
