Job Description

The King's Institute for Artificial Intelligence is seeking to appoint up to five part-time AI Coaches to support with the delivery of a short-course entitled ?Fundamentals of AI: A Practical Course for Businesses??. The course is targeted at SMEs and is designed to be at level 3, the equivalent of A-Level.  

As part of this course, learners will undertake three taught modules: 1.  Introduction to AI, 2. Data Literacy and Data Science, 3. Prompt Engineering. 

Module 4 of the course offers learners the opportunity to receive 1:1 support from an AI Coach over the course of three one-hour sessions which aim to consolidate learning from the first three modules, and to support learners to explore potential uses and interventions of AI within the specific context of their business initiatives. Resources will be provided to coaches to support the facilitation of these sessions.  

Delivery format: online 

Number of Hours: variable, between 3 and 45 (max 10 hours per week) 

Working hours will be determined directly between the AI Coach and each learner with support from the Institute for AI. Coaches are able to work around their other commitments, but are encouraged to be flexible with their availability to suit their learners? needs (for example by offering both daytime and evening availability).  

Timeframe: Monday 16 September- Friday 20 December 2024 

The course will be repeated three times throughout this time frame to three cohorts of learners. AI coaches will ordinarily be required to commit to supporting all three cohorts of learners.  

Approximate coaching periods are as follows:  

Cohort 1: Friday 20- Monday 30 September 

Cohort 2: Monday 21 October- Friday 1 November 

Cohort 3: Monday 2 December- Friday 13 December  

Interview dates: Friday 6 and Monday 9 September 2024 

Rate of pay: 20.46 per hour. You will be paid for your hours of coaching, plus an additional 3 hours to be used for training and content familiarisation.   

There may also be the option to take on additional hours supporting with the delivery of modules 1-3. 

All payments will be made through King's Teachers so potential candidates must be registered on this site and their right to work check should be complete or in progress before being invited to interview.  

Key Responsibilities:  

AI Coaches will be matched with up to 5 learners. They will be required to provide 1:1 support to learners to consolidate their learning from modules one to three, provide personalised guidance, and support the practical application of AI concepts within the context of individual business initiatives.  

They will be required to deliver three sessions focused on feedback, brainstorming, and the development of implementation plans, ensuring that learners can confidently apply their knowledge to real-world scenarios. 



Qualifications

Currently studying towards a PhD in a relevant subject area (or have equivalent experience)



Skills

Essential  

Studying for a PhD in relevant field, preferably in AI, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.   

Strong interest in AI and a solid understanding of its key subfields including: fundamentals of data science and AI, AI tools and technologies, analysis of AI-enhanced data, and challenges and ethical considerations of AI. 

Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas effectively.  

Desirable  

Teaching or coaching experience in a university context or similar.  

Knowledge and understanding of opportunities for implementation of AI in a business context, including GenAI technologies such as OpenAI ChatGPT.

Project Overview: We are developing a web application and are seeking an experienced Backend Developer to manage API development, cloud deployment, and database management. This project operates within an Agile/Sprint framework. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Python Proficiency: Develop backend logic using Python, with a strong focus on class structures and JSON manipulation.

Database Management:

  • MongoDB Atlas: Manage and manipulate MongoDB Atlas (NoSQL) databases using PyMongo.
  • Data Aggregation: Create and manage data aggregation pipelines to support database operations.

Research assistant required to work on a project that investigates the higher education experiences and outcomes for mixed-heritage/raced young people (18-25yrs) in London. The project is a mixed-method study consisting of quantitative data analysis of existing public survey datasets, focus groups with mixed-heritage students in London universities, sixth-forms and colleges, and semi-structured interviews with school and university staff. The study is led Dr Ayo Mansaray (School of Education, Communication and Society) with Dr Chiamaka Nwosu (King?s Business School).

The post-holder will provide research support for the qualitative elements of the project, including tasks such as: recruitment and arrangement of student and staff interviews, contributing to the drafting of qualitative interview topic guides, conducting student focus groups and one-to-one staff interviews, data management (e.g. cataloguing data files, sending files for transcription etc.), data analysis, and report writing. The RA will also provide ad hoc administrative support to the project team. The RA will be expected to attend in-person project meetings with funders in London.



Qualifications

BA and MA/MSC in a Social Science/Arts & Humanities discipline, undertaking a doctorate.



Skills

Experience of MS Teams, and MS office suite (e.g. Word etc.),  and knowledge of bibliographic software (e.g. Endnote) and qualitative data analysis software (e.g. Nvivo). 

Interest in the experiences of racialised groups in the education system and/or social justice in education. 

Understanding of research design and project management. Good understanding of qualitative methodologies, specifically prior experience of focus group or individual interviewing. 

Good communication, organisational and interpersonal skills. 

Ability to travel across London to attend meetings and conduct interviews. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic technician to join our team of scientists and clinicians to develop bone marrow organoids and investigate the interaction between malignant cells and the immune system. The successful candidate will work with fresh and frozen peripheral blood and bone marrow samples from healthy donors and patients with myeloproliferative neoplasm. 

The Research technician needs to use a variety of techniques such as flow cytometry, cell culture, imaging and other necessary techniques. 



Qualifications

A degree in biology or an equivalent degree in a relevant subject.

Experience in cell culture, flow cytometry, and work with organoids.

Familiar with essential molecular techniques.
