Job Description

Hours will vary with October being the busiest period.

Reports to
Employer Liaison & Events Manager/relevant Careers Consultant, King's College London Careers & Employability
Aims
1. To promote King's Careers & Employability facilities, services and events as widely as possible within King's.
2. To assist in the delivery of Careers events programme throughout the year
Objectives/specific tasks
This is not an exhaustive list. Other reasonable tasks will be delegated by the ELE Manager/Careers Consultant
- Act as an ambassador with students and academic departmental staff for specific schools
- Assist staff posting information and advice on social media and monitoring client engagement with social media
- Market events through various channels
- Assist staff distributing posters and flyers at specific campus(es)
- Work autonomously to host evening employer events on campus (events usually finish 20.00-21.00)
- Be responsible for meeting employers on campus for evening presentations
- Take notes from employer presentations to submit a brief report to Careers & Employability
- Collect feedback and survey results and enter onto careers information management system
- Work at the Careers Fairs
- With permissions from academic staff, make announcements at lectures about forthcoming careers events and services
- Attend open days, post-offer days, fresher's fairs, careers road shows, etc. to inform current and prospective students about Careers & employability
- Canvas student views on King's Careers & Employability and the services it offers, including facilitating focus groups

The candidate will need:
- Positive and friendly approach to their work, with clear customer focus
- Ability to communicate effectively with a range of people
- Ability to empathise with the needs of, and issues concerning, students, employers and staff
- Ability to organise own workload to agreed targets, prioritise tasks and keep to deadlines
- Initiative to work autonomously and find solutions to problems when necessary
- The willingness to work in the evenings (normally until 21.00).

Back of house cleaning duties

Counting and organising crockery, cutlery and glassware for event setups

Washing crockery, cutlery and glassware returned from events and storing them correctly

Completing and signing off Cleaning checklists which involves keeping the general back of house and rubbish disposal area clean

This job may be based at Great Hall or Riddel Hall, or across both properties

Multiple positions are available. Available shifts include 8-4 Monday to Friday, with other roles for evening shifts from 4pm available.

Minimum 6 months experience working as a kitchen porter

Knowledge of COSHH is desirable

We are looking for Event Assistants to provide support at our On-Campus Undergraduate Open Day event on Saturday 7 September 2024 where prospective students will experience King's and discover their study options.   

There are a number of jobs required for this event. It includes:  

Accommodation Tour Guide 
Gym Tour Assistant 
Open Day Steward 
Registration Assistant 
Room Assistant 

The majority of the above roles will be working from 09:00 with the exception Registration Assistants who will need to start at 08:00. All roles include a 1 hour unpaid lunch break and lunch vouchers will be provided.  

In order to fulfil the requirements for this role, you will be required to watch a short briefing video and complete a short quiz which will be sent to you upon allocation. Unfortunately, we cannot pay you for this time.
