Job Description

Monday 6th January Guys Campus

Applicants must NOT be part of the Physiotherapy course at King's College London or the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine.

You will be invigilating for Physiotherapy students taking their Objective Structured Clinical Exams (OSCE).

Key responsibilities   

  • To support the Lead Invigilator in carrying out their duties by attending briefing sessions prior to and following exam sessions as required.  
  • To assist with setting up the circuit(s): putting out clipboards, sharp pencils, and rubbers inside each station. 
  • Assist with the set-up of equipment (training will be given for the setting up of props or the resetting of station equipment). 
  • To assist students before the exam begins, ensuring that all students are correctly located and ready for the exam.   
  • To invigilate the examination circuits and guide students between stations during the exam.  
  • Direct examiners, patients, simulated patients to the correct stations. 
  • Be the first response for examiner questions or concerns, raising issues with the lead invigilator or senior examiner quickly and efficiently. 
  • To vigilantly monitor the room/allocated area throughout the exam in session whilst not disrupting the candidates; and ensuring a calm environment conducive to supporting students to be successful in their exams.  
  • To ensure that noise levels on the examination circuit are kept to a minimum and that examination conditions are maintained throughout 
  • To promptly report any incidents that may impact a candidate's performance to the Lead Invigilator, Circuit Lead (Marshall), OSCE Site Lead, or Senior Examiner. 
  • To ensure that, at the end of the exam, all iPads and materials are collected and returned to the relevant place according to set procedures as advised by the Lead Invigilator.

  • assisting with the preparation of script envelopes
  • supervising candidates leaving the examination venues, ensuring that candidates do not remove equipment or stationery from the venue without authorisation and ensuring that candidates leave in an orderly and quiet manner

This is a role for an experienced research administrator to support with the ongoing establishment of the University’s research culture agenda. The successful candidate will work closely with the Dean of Research Culture and will engage with University academics and relevant research leads in areas such as Research Governance Ethics & Integrity, Centre for Research Staff Development, Libraries and Collections and HR to plan and kickstart a portfolio of research culture projects that will have University-wide impact, ensuring close strategic alignment across all stakeholders.



The priorities for the post holder during the three-month period will be to enact recommendations from a recently completed external review on research culture at King’s, specifically:




  1. To review the role of the established Research Culture Committee and make recommendations on any further developments required

  2. To develop a University wide research culture survey, working with key stakeholders on content and delivery and managing and summarising responses.

  3. To work with faculties to identify mechanisms for identifying local research culture priorities 

  4. To support with the development of roles and responsibilities for substantive research culture posts



Qualifications

Candidates will need to have either a degree and 2 years of relevent administarive experience in a HEI or, have significant research support experience.

We are seeking candidates who have a good understanding of the UK research landscape and can quickly get up to speed with internal and external developments in research culture, in order to effectively support the Dean with moving the agenda forward.



Candidates must also have excellent organisational and communication skills and be able to prepare and disseminate any necessary communications to the research community in relation to research culture. They must be able to work confidently and assertively with a range of senior stakeholders, using negotiating and influencing skills to achieve successful outcomes.

The Student Ambassador Admin Assistant is responsible for a range of administrative duties to ensure the efficient running of the Student Ambassador programme, as well as supporting with other administrative tasks for the Widening Participation and Outreach team. Tasks include:

  • Act as a point of contact for the student ambassador scheme, and anyone booking ambassador via email, over the phone or in person
  • Upload jobs onto our employment portal, HEAT, and booking appropriate ambassadors for jobs.
  • Managing the student ambassador mailbox ? answering emails and responding in a timely manner.
  • Support with the recruitment and training of new cohort of Student Ambassadors.
  • Book meeting rooms for colleagues and supporting with administrative duties in line with the work of the team.
  • Organise and update office databases
  • Respond to questions and requests for information
  • In addition to the role there will be opportunities to gain experience supporting taster days, talking about your experiences as a student and being a positive role model to prospective students.
