Education For Sustainable Development RA

Job Description

Applications are invited for an enthusiastic Research Assistant to work within a multidisciplinary team across several of King’s faculties, developing teaching material in Education for Sustainability. The project aims to use an existing educational board game, Dilemma, and create bespoke versions of the game for a range of educational modules at King’s. The Dilemma game is a teaching resource for introducing a sustainability angle into any teaching setting, and for initiating a deeper discussion around sustainability and values thinking. As part of the game, participants would answer both fact-based quiz-like questions on topics relevant to environmental, social, and economic sustainability as well as debate value-based dilemmas for which there is no right or wrong answer.

Role Summary

This project will create game cards of both types to be used in seminars across at least five different modules directed towards different student groups, covering a range of subject domains, and integrate sustainability discussion into those.

Main Duties

As a member of the team, the post-holder will be working in close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of researchers and educators from several of King’s faculties. They will provide support in the creation of the teaching material, taking ideas and topics generated by the project group of academics and transform them into a form that suits the format of this specific educational game. The post-holder will be responsible for performing a literature review to validate facts that will be used in the game, and then to write proposals for questions, clues, answers, and debating dilemmas with consideration to word limits and graphical layout.
