Job Description

The Centre for Data Futures (The Dickson Poon School of Law) is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to join an interdisciplinary sub-team working at the cutting edge of human-AI interaction and uncertainty communication. 

The successful candidate will contribute to preparing multiple research bids focused on developing agency-enhancing, participatory interfaces for large language models, with a particular emphasis on how these systems communicate uncertainty. 

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of AI interfaces, combining expertise in Human-Computer Interaction, AI/ML, and the communication of complex information to diverse audiences. 

We are looking for individuals with a strong background in computer science, cognitive science, philosophy or a related field, who are passionate about creating AI systems that empower users.



Qualifications

Applicants will have completed doctoral studies in a relevant area, or currently undertaking PhD study.

The role may involve: 

  • Writing descriptions of research clusters and other initiatives of the department. 
  • Collecting information from colleagues about their research strengths and publicising these. 
  • Identifying and acquiring visuals and other graphics for the website. 
  • Recording audiovisual material and interviews with staff in the department. 
  • Managing and establishing social media accounts for the department.

Skills

The ideal candidate will have: 

  • Experience or interest in recording video and audio material. 
  • Knowledge of different social media platforms. 
  • Good teamworking skills and some basic IT skills. 

 

Join Our Invigilator Team - Be a Key Part of Exam Success!

We're looking for organised, reliable, and empathetic individuals to join our pool of Invigilators. This crucial role ensures the smooth running of exams, helping students perform their best. The position is on an as-needed basis throughout the year, with most sessions taking place during our main exam periods in January, May, and August.

Due to the nature of this assignment applications from current King's College London students will not be considered unless you are currently completing a PhD or DPhil.

Main Exam Venue: While we do conduct exams across Central London, most of the work takes place at the ExCel Centre.
