King?s Climate & Sustainability (KCS) is a University-wide transformation programme to step up our response to the challenges posed by the climate emergency and global sustainability, and to accelerate and connect research, education and action across King?s. 

As Social Media & Content Assistant, you will have a flair for creating social media content and an excitement to engage with students about climate and sustainability in a fun, engaging and creative way. You will write, create and edit posts and reels relating to the work of King?s Climate & Sustainability and sustainability across the wider King?s community, including (but not limited to) research, education, projects, events, funding, opportunities, news and more. You will also support across some of our other digital channels, including the monthly newsletter and Ripple Effects blog. 

The ideal candidate will be well versed in current trends on social media and have creative ideas for viral-style content and engaging, informative captions. They will also be comfortable adapting tone and style to suit different platforms, engaging with students and staff, and presenting in front of the camera where necessary.

Essential criteria 

  • Excellent standard of English and communication skills (written and oral). 
  • Experience of writing and creating content for social media (e.g. Instagram, LinkedIn, X, TikTok), including videos, with a keen eye for current trends. 
  • Strong design skills (e.g. Canva). 
  • Owner of a smartphone (we do not have one to supply). 
  • Accurate and methodical approach to work, with a keen eye for detail. Proven ability in producing high quality work with tight time scales. 
  • Ability to work independently and creatively, to come up with new ideas that will engage and excite students. 
  • Ability to manage time effectively, work flexibly and prioritise workload. 
  • An interest in and enthusiasm for climate and sustainability and a positive approach. 
  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to equality and diversity through inclusive and accessible communications.

Desirable criteria 

  • Ability to plan ahead; able to develop content for projects and communication goals ahead of schedule. 
  • Willingness to speak to camera

Reporting to Dr Eddy Tam, Lecturer in Economics King's Business School. The role is primarily focussed on digitizing research data (census tables) from scanned images (using computer software and data entry work)
