King's Academy KEA Intern

 

Job Description

This role will be working in a fast-paced team, supporting the delivery of the King's Education Awards 2024. The awards will take place on the Strand Campus on Thursday 13 June 2024 from 4-8pm, so applicants must ensure they are available to be on campus on this date and time for the event. 



Please note: the maximum number of hours that a student can work per week is 20 hours. The number depends on external regulations governing working for international students as well as university regulations around working while studying. If you hold another role, please ensure the hours from this role combined with the hours from any other roles held do not exceed 20 hours per week.  



 Responsibilities   



For the King’s Education Awards 2024, you will primarily be based at the mug collection table where nominees will arrive to collect their mugs which will require you to:




  • Organise the mug collection station at the direction of the project manager 

  • Greet colleagues upon arrival and find their name in the alphabetical list of labels 

  • Once found, stick the label to an individually boxed mug and tick them off the list 

  • At the end of the event, return the ticked off list and labels to the event manager and repack any unclaimed mugs back into the large delivery boxes 



We are expecting around 120 attendees so this operation must run smoothly, efficiently and most importantly, must not disrupt the flow of the celebration. You may be required to assist during other parts of the event (including setting up and clearing away), at the discretion of the event manager.



Please note, the dress code for the event is smart casual.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills   

  • An eye for detail  

  • Ability to manage a busy workload while remaining calm and displaying tact at all times   

  • Some previous experience in supporting large-scale events.

This is a short-term research assistance role to examine EU and UK copyright law developments related to the Information Society Directive. In total, the project involves 40 hours of research. Specifically, the RA will need to examine UK and EU legislation and case law and scholarly materials relating to copyright law and the extent to which UK law converges/divergences from EU copyright law. The time period to focus on is 1 January 2019 to the present. To support the everyday administration of the Interface project, including file and data management, calendar scheduling, budget tracking with the support of the project lead, social media account management, updating project information, liaising with external and internal stakeholders, events management and additional duties arising. 

The candidate should also be able to start work Monday 6 January 2025. The role runs till end of March, but with a view to further employment if the project requires.



Qualifications

A first degree is essential, and postgraduate experience preferred but not essential. Far more weight will be given to a high level of expertise and experience with managing complex administrative projects.

A high level of time management skills, project management expertise, event organisation and budget experience are required, as well as working with spreadsheets, digital file management, minute taking and general organisation. 

Research assistant to Dr. Eden Sarid. The RA will be tasked with reviewing interview transcripts, identifying collective themes and patterns. Together, we will develop a list of codes based on the interviewees' accounts and overarching conceptual themes. These codes will then be organized and mapped to uncover connections and discrepancies between dominant narratives and self-reported behaviours.
