SSLC Secretary
We are recruiting existing Student Representatives in Arts and Humanities to take on the role of Student Staff Liasion Committee (SSLC) secretary for academic year 2024-5. This will be a trial and students will be trained and supported throughout. Your tasks will involve:
- Working with the Student Experience Team.
- Compiling agendas with SSLC Chairs.
- Sending emails to committee members.
- Attending SSLC.
- Keeping to deadlines.
- Liaising with student reps and staff.
- Taking notes in SSLC to a high standard.
- Chasing actions agreed in SSLC.
- Turning SSLC notes into a structured, clear and well written minutes document.
- Evaluating your experience at the end of your position.
You should expect that this role would take up approximately 6-8 hours over the semester.

SkillsEssential
- Excellent written English.
- Familiar with MS Office e.g. Word, Outlook.
- The ability to focus on a task whilst discussion is taking place e.g. during SSLC.
- Reliability and contentiousness e.g. responding to emails, arriving to meetings on time, keeping to deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills.
- A willingness to liaise with both students and staff at the University.
- Ability to attend training in person on October 23rd 12:00-13:00.
- Ability to attend, and to prioritise attending, SSLC for your department in each semester (dates will be sent asap).
Desirable
- Understanding of the SSLC process.
- Prior involvement with SSLC e.g. SSLC Chair in prior year.
- Experience taking minutes.
- Experience working in an administrative role.
