Job Description

Supporting Dr Marc Lepere, three MSc ESG Management students will assess companies' Net Zero Plans in line with the codebook used by Oxford Net Zero Tracker. This will provide case study material for the Leading, Managing and Challenging Net Zero Planning Course, the EEA and EMBA modules.

Each student will analyse 20 companies, as instructed by Dr Marc Lepere (i.e. 10 hours work). The work is due to be completed by 31st January 2025.

The Centre of European Law at King's College London is seeking a research assistant. 

The research assistant will help with completing a literature review, as well as background initial research (ECJ case law, EU institutions documents and reports, possibly national legislation) on the rule of law and independence of judiciary. They will help with contacting and liaising with various potential partners on the project, as well as organising several in-person events in London. They will collaborate with the grants and the events team at The Dickson Poon School of Law in carrying out their tasks.

The research assistant will be a doctoral or a postdoctoral researcher seeking to obtain experience with writing a large grant application. EU law knowledge is required, as well as experience in researching EU law databases. Knowledge in the area of the rule of law, independence of the judiciary, judicial politics is desirable. Working knowledge of one or more of the following languages is a plus: French, German, Polish, Italian. 

  • Perform intense desktop research on ?middle powers? within International Relations Theory, especially in relation to Africa. 
  • Read and gather all relevant information and data related to the above topic. 
  • Establish literature availability as well as collate and examine relevant literature sources to produce :
    • A ?data dump? of relevant material
    • A literature review document across the research topic, 1500-2000 words.
  • Consider and highlight interesting avenues of enquiry that emerge from the research, and list possible further research questions. 
  • Compile bibliography (with abstracts or summary) of any and all sources consulted throughout the research.

Experience in compiling and producing a literature review

Reporting to Dr Eddy Tam, Lecturer in Economics King's Business School. The role is primarily focussed on digitizing research data (census tables) from scanned images (using computer software and data entry work)
