About the Role



This post is part of an exciting project that seeks to understand how discrimination impacts health in at-risk groups. This temporary post (FTE equivalent 3.5 months) involves supporting and finalising publications arising from the project. Work includes literature searching, drafting and revising manuscripts for publication in academic journals. The project is funded by the Academy of Medical Sciences.



 



About the Team



The post is based at the Health Psychology Section, Guy's Campus, King's College London.



The post holder will work alongside Dr Ruth Hackett.

Qualifications

PhD in Public Health, Psychology, Epidemiology, or similar. 



Skills

Experience required



Candidates must hold a PhD or have equivalent research experience in Public Health, Psychology, Epidemiology, or similar. This is a PhD level role but candidates who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting award of their PhDs will be considered. 



Experience of writing for peer reviewed academic journals and publishing in these is essential. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills and will be able to work independently within agreed timeframes.

We are recruiting an hourly-paid RA to run an experiment involving the use of hypnosis to modulate perception and to analyse the corresponding data.



Qualifications

You should have an MA or MSc degree (merit or distinction).



Skills

You must have previous experience (clinical or research) in administering hypnotic inductions and different hypnotic suggestions to participants; you must also have relevant expertise in the study of nocebo effects and meta-analysis; and you must have published at least one paper on the topic of suggestibility or hypnosis.
