The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is a world-leading centre for research and postgraduate education in public and global health. Our mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide. 

The Mental Health Innovation Network (MHIN) is based in the Centre for Global Mental Health (CGMH) and is the largest network of actors in Global Mental Health with an evidence based focus and has been providing accessible evidence for implementation and advocacy in mental health for over 10 years.

The role is central to the effective functioning and impact of MHIN, maintaining a professional and accessible platform for knowledge exchange and networking.  Specific activities include;

  • Identifying, actively commissioning, and uploading key content from members to the MHIN website 
  • Compiling e-newsletters and other outputs to communicate recent developments and additions to the site 
  • Scheduling and managing all social media content for the network (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram). 
  • Collaborating with the Africa and Latin American MHIN regional hubs, and the international teams that manage them (particularly the SUCCEED Africa programme at LSHTM).
  • Contributing to the strategic development of MHIN and its sustainable growth and financial security including grant proposals

In addition the successful candidate will be expected to be an active member of the MHIN team as well as CGMH, and the wider London School staff body. This provides many opportunities for growth and engagement in wide public and international health.

The candidate should hold at least a degree level qualification in a relevant subject, such as health communications or global mental health, or equivalent experience of managing communications in relevant areas of science, health or international development. This is a full-time (1 FTE) fixed-term post based in London at LSHTM and is expected to be available from 1 December 2021, initially for 1 year, with the possibility of extension, pending further funding.

The salary will be on the Professional Services salary scale Grade 5 in the range £35,377 - £36,315 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, in addition to discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available.
