The Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care (NMPC) is seeking a temporary Communications and Events Officer. Reporting to the Communications Manager, the postholder will help coordinate a busy programme of events and contribute to the Faculty's communications outputs.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support all aspects of event delivery, including logistics (venue, AV, catering), guest management, invitations, promotion, and on-the-day support.
  • Support updates to the Faculty website and research project pages.
  • Assist with creating content (copy, images, videos) for NMPC social media channels.

 

Location

Mostly remote, with some activities based in-person at King's College London.

 

Hours

Hours are based on the resource needs within the Communications Team. The initial contract will be for 1 day/week - any changes in hours from this will be discussed with the post-holder. As an indication of what to expect, here are our forecasted needs: 

  • April - May: 1 day/week
  • June - July: 1-2 days/week
  • Sept - Oct: 2-3 days/week

Skills
  • Experience in event coordination, communications, and social media.
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Familiarity with higher education or the health sector is desirable.

We are looking for a motivated and creative student to support our department's communications efforts. In this role, you will:

  • Assist with content creation for our communication channels, including social media, website, blog, and mailing lists.
  • Help manage and grow our social media presence.
  • Support the organisation and promotion of department events.
  • Assist with general communications tasks, such as drafting posts, updating web content, and maintaining mailing lists.

 



Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a BA or MA programme.



Skills
  • Experience creating content for websites and social media platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal English language skills.
  • Organisational skills and experience in event coordination.
  • Ability to work with spreadsheets (e.g., for mailing lists, scheduling, analytics).
  • Proactive and detail-oriented approach to tasks.
